A fun and festive way to spice up your margarita with pomegranate and orange flavours. Plus salted sprinkles for the rim of the glass. So pretty!!
Who says margaritas are only for summertime? This Christmas version adds a merry spin to the classic margarita – with sweet and citrusy flavours from orange and pomegranate juice.
It’s super easy to make so a great one if you’re entertaining this Christmas (or you just fancy making yourself something a little bit special 😉). Plus that colourful sprinkle-rimmed glass is bound to impress your guests!
📋 Ingredients
Silver Tequila – This is also known as white or blanco tequila, it just means it’s clear and unaged with a strong, pure agave flavour .
Triple Sec – This adds more of that sweet, orange flavour. You can replace with Cointreau, but it will be more dry and have a slightly different flavour profile.
Juice – I used a mix of pomegranate and orange juice for that sweet, citrusy base and a little lime juice to add a slight tang.
Glass Rim and Garnishes
Honey – This just helps the sprinkles and salt stick to the rim of the glass, it adds a little sweetness too.
Sprinkles – I used rainbow hundreds and thousands but any small sprinkle will work. You could even go with red and green sprinkles to make it even more festive!
Coarse Salt – This is optional but it adds a lovely balance to the sweetness of the honey.
How to make it:
***Full recipe with detailed steps in the recipe card at the end of this post***
- Start by adding the sprinkle rim to the glass by mixing the sprinkles and salt in one dish, and pouring some honey in another. Dip the rim of both glasses in the honey, then in the sprinkle salt mixture until coated.
- Then add some ice, the orange juice and the pomegranate juice to each glass.
- Shake the tequila, triple sec and lime juice in a cocktail shaker with ice. Then pour evenly between the glasses.
- Add the satsuma slices and rosemary sprigs to decorate and serve.
